In the spring of 2006 Hy Tea opened its doors to the public. Hy Niles is the owner of Hy-Tea and her son, Kirk Niles, manages the tea house and restaurant. They had a dream of becoming the coziest tea house and restaurant in Durham Region. The Frenchman’s
Bay Village

provided the perfect setting to help make this dream come true.
Hy and Kirk pride themselves on their simple yet delectable menu including a warm and easy relaxing atmosphere where everything is “no problem”.
Award winning restaurant designer, Michel Dorais designed the space making it cozy for customers. Award Winning Master Chef, Des-Rick Morgan, with 20 years experience in the industry, created the scrumptious international menu.
Hy-Tea has also been recognized as a GOLD award winner! In 2007, they received the "Readers Choice 2007 Gold Award", from the Ajax/Pickering News Advertiser.
For the past few years Hy-Tea has also been involved in supporting community charity groups, such as the United Way of Ajax-Pickering-Uxbridge "Bon Appetit" event. Also, they have supported "Renewed Strength" - a post-cancer support group.
